Michael Chekhov Studio Florida (MCSFL) is an actors' training studio offering classes and private/semi-private coaching for actors at all levels as well as business professionals seeking to better perform in their work. Founded by Joe Herrera, MCSFL's curriculum is grounded in the Michael Chekhov Technique of Acting.

 

The MCSFL's mission and goal is to provide intensive Chekhov actor training of actors, teachers, directors and business professionals under the discipline, dedication, and inspiration central to the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique.

Many professional actors have claimed the technique as integral to their craft, including Johnny Depp, Anthony Hopkins, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood, and Lloyd Bridges.

 

 

 

Joe Herrera, is a Puerto-Rican - American born actor, director, acting coach and acting teacher. Joe is the founder of the Michael Chekhov Studio Florida. Joe is a Certified Teacher of the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique, through the National Michael Chekhov Association (NMCA) pedagogy, the longest running professional Chekhov teaching certification program in the world. The NMCA was founded by Master Teachers Lisa Dalton, Wil Kilroy and the late Mala Powers who offer thorough, in-depth training in the Michael Chekhov Technique, and is the go-to intensive training for actors looking to expand their careers as artists.

 

Joe Herrera is an active member of the National Michael Chekhov Association (NMCA, Inc.) & the Michael Chekhov Association (MICHA). He is listed as a Certified teacher of the Michael Chekhov Technique with both organizations. Joe is also a proud member of the Actors Equity Association and is a SAG-AFTRA member.

 

Some of his professional credits include Off-Broadway productions with Elizabeth Swados' “The Hating Pot", Director Curtiss Cook's “The Resting Place", Ralph Lee's “Heart of the Earth: A Popol Vuh Story", Rus Blackwell’s “Nativity On the Square” at the Orlando Repertory, and "Ferdinand the Bull" a TheatreWorksUSA tour. Independent films: "Let There Be Light" with Kevin Sorbo, "Inheritance" with Lily Collins, Simon Pegg, Connie Nielsen, and Chace Crawford, "The Girl in the Watermelon" with a TV premiere on Starz Network, action-comedy, “SideKicked,” and "A Christian Carol" where he served also as a Dialogue/Acting Coach.

Television: Ghostwriter, and guest-starring roles on "America's Most Wanted," "Dr G. Medical Examiner," "La Voz Kids," and "Law & Order." He is actively working on various short & indie film projects in the southeast region.

 

Joe earned his Master of Arts degree in Theatre at Regent University.

Joe lives in the Tampa Bay Gulf Area of Florida  with his wife Vanessa and their 6 children.
